Our goal is to identify children who may be struggling as readers in their earliest years of schooling in order to provide instructional and explicit reading & phonemic awareness intervention while the gap between the strong and weak readers is still relatively small.
Teacher Certified Tutoring has been offering a home-based online French Reading & Phonetic Awareness Program since 2007. Shelley LeBlanc, creator & program coordinator, is a French resource teacher for the Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. When she began her career in 1996, and having taught in various regions throughout Nova Scotia, she saw a need for French reading support program for elementary aged students enrolled in a French program. Nearly 10 years later, the company has steadily grown. Today, Teacher Certified Tutoring (Lireavecmoi.ca) employs nearly 2 dozen teachers and provides an affordable and quality service to students enrolled in Francophone & French study programs across Canada.
There is no doubt that at the core of your child's ability to learn are strong reading skills. With the help of a certified teacher, A to Z leveled readers and our own phonetic & phonemic awareness files, our teachers are able to provide a one-on-one instruction tailored to your child's needs. Lessons focus on letter-sound relationships, word recognition skills and reading comprehension strategies with plenty of opportunities for your child to apply and practice these skills. Connecting through our virtual classroom called Blackboard Collaborate, teachers upload the appropriate leveled reader and combined with voice and whiteboard, they encorporate pre-reading,reading and post-reading strategies into each 30 minute lesson. The integration of phonemic awareness lessons are always taught in context.
